This just in.
OH GOD I NEED TO PLAY WORLD OF WARCRAFT AGAIN I CAN'T STAND IT ANYMORE. I admit it, I caved, I have the resolution of a gopher... whatever the hell that means CAN'T YOU SEE I'M NOT THINKING RIGHT. I imagine, if I did ever play again, raiding would be out of the question. I don't have the... patience to spend 5 hours every other day raiding, dying, getting nowhere. But I miss the questing, I miss instances, I miss listening to people on vent, I miss the sad picnics in Org, fuckin' AV turtles even sound good. I'd like to go back to my calling in mmorpgs, which is a healer. I'm telling ya, I'm queen bee when it comes to keeping you alive. Perhaps a druid. I always wanted to be a tree.

But lo, I have no money. Dave's too much of an economic drain.

I also miss Murmur and its dying elephant sounds.

I just miss raiding... I don't miss the time it consumes, or wow for that matter, but I miss raiding...

The thought of just raiding is a fine feeling, but everything that goes along with it, not so much. Not the gathering of materials prior to the raid, all the sitting around while tanks and healers get situated, taking 10 minutes to run down strategies, not getting certain buffs even if you ask several times nicely, reminding people of your cooldowns, wipes because somebody didn't say they were going afk... I don't miss that. But actually getting down to business, that's the part I want again. In the end I guess it just doesn't pay off.

The farming does indeed suck.... such garbage that for every hour you raid you have to spend no less than 1 farming to support it. WotLK probably has a bit less since there's less buff stacking, but it's still quite a bit. Much of the other elements are mitigated by a good raid group. I couldn't keep the schedule anymore though; 4 hours/day 4 days/week which isn't even that bad, but it was taking up too much time during my weekdays.

What I miss most is all the theorycrafting and speccing out gear/specs; and then being able to see that come to fruition.

Part of me is still bitter about what they did to the zones at the end of tbc too though; My guild went from a 4-hour clear to get to M'uru to clearing the entire SWP in 3 hours or less. With respect to time, it was nice, but they did it by removing all the skill required from the fights; excluding maybe Kil'Jaden.

I didn't even get very far in BC. After completing Kara things just kind of fell apart, probably because it was a miserable server for late starters. I never saw BT, which I'll be forever bummed about (I have a hard-on for Illidan, but you didn't hear that from me). That's part of my desire to play WoW again, I suppose. I don't want that to be my last memory of the game - spending all that time on a character I loved only to have absolutely nothing happen no matter how hard I tried. Different server, different class. Mayhaps I could have fun?

TBC broke a lot of guilds; my guild from vanilla wow basically fell apart on the first boss of SSC at which time I left for a guild that was just starting work on Kael'Thas (still my favorite fight of the game; the 5-man version was crap) whom I'm still in today. I even made the top-15 worldwide ranking for a couple of fights in SWP for locks; which as sad as it is, was quite pleasing. But the end of TBC was clouded by every guild on the server lacking people, some breaking apart or merging, others just failing; and then huge instance nerfs.

I separated my druid & Lock onto 2 separate accounts so I could simul-level them (as I don't like questing) but 2 instances of wow was causing my old rig to overheat and go boom boom... the new one seemed to pull it off fine last night; I think when I get back from my trip I'll work on actively leveling them.

Illidan was indeed a fun fight; I got to tank him actually which was awesome. :)

raiding is a lot easier now. blizzard's taking the approach that having more people see the content is better, so everything is.. much easier.

some of the heroics are actually probably harder than the raid bosses right now to be honest
